Indiana Wesleyan University is an evangelical Christian
comprehensive university founded in 1920 and committed to liberal
arts and professional education. Through innovative degree
programs for adult and residential students IWU has become one of
the fastest-growing Christian universities in America. More than
7,500 adult learners are pursuing undergraduate and graduate
degrees at multiple sites throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and
via online programs.

Our faculty are facilitators, rather than lecturers, and they

All programs are offered in both classroom and online formats
unless otherwise noted.
Indiana Wesleyan University is accredited by the Higher Learning
Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of
Colleges and Schools (NCA).
The Associate of Science degree in business (ASB) program
consists of 62 credits of coursework which include both business
and liberal arts curricula. The ASB design requires the student
to complete all 62 hours with Indiana Wesleyan University.
Therefore, transfer of credits is not an option at the associate
level.
The major in business at Indiana Wesleyan University is designed
either to be a degree in general business or to provide a
foundation for completion of a baccalaureate degree in a
business-related field.
The courses in the program relate theory to practice.
Instructional methods include lectures, seminars, workshop
activities, simulations and business case studies. Each class
forms study groups to assist in the learning process. Most
courses are three credit hours each and each course is a required
component of the program (core) and should be taken in sequence.

The major in accounting (BSA) is an academic program designed for
working professionals interested in completing a baccalaureate
degree focusing on accounting theory, taxation and auditing.
The first two courses (ACC 201- Accounting Principles I and ACC
202- Accounting Principles II) in the program are provided to
those who wish to meet minimum entrance requirements and as
optional refresher courses for those entering the program. The
core program focuses on accounting theory, analytical skills,
practical application and problem solving. Also addressed in the
program are accounting, taxation and auditing issues faced by
management of sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations
and non-profit entities. Other topics in the core program
include: economics, business law and strategic planning. In all,
the accounting curriculum is designed to provide working business
professionals with skills and knowledge necessary to transition
into or advance within the general field of accounting.

The major in business administration (BSBA)* is an academic
program designed for the working professional employed in a
business or public organization.
The curriculum is designed to enable graduates to deal
effectively with an increasingly complex business environment.
The program stresses skill development in the areas of
management, decision-making, business communications, managerial
accounting and finance, managerial economics and marketing. The
emphasis in this program is on developing the quantitative skills
necessary to be successful in the professional world.

financial planning and control systems, negotiation and conflict
resolution. The management degree specifically focuses on
sharpening the qualitative skills necessary to be successful in a
professional environment.

The major in marketing (BSMK)* is an academic program designed
for working professionals in a marketing or sales department, or
for those desiring to move into these areas.
This major is designed to prepare students to become more
effective within a competitive marketing arena. It is centered on
the core marketing function and includes marketing of products
and services, sales, sales management issues, marketing
communications and applied marketing research.
While marketing is the core, the major also equips students with
general business skills and a working understanding of
fundamental economic, financial and general management
principles.

Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a 42-credit hour
program designed to meet the worldwide need for knowledgeable,
principle-centered leadership of organizations. Intended to
prepare managers as both economic and ethical leaders, the MBA
program emphasizes the integration and application of knowledge.
Students connect with business; the connection deepens and
broadens as their programs proceed. New knowledge, skills and
tools quickly form the basis of leadership in business
decision-making. To that end, the class structure deals with both
the qualitative and quantitative skills required of today's
managers.
The MBA program emphasizes the acquisition of technical
management skills within a peer group or management team context.
Each course requires the adoption of an individual and
cooperative approach to problem solving. Written problem analysis
is required throughout the program, as is the development of
presentation skills. Courses are taken one at a time in
sequential order.

The Master of Science with a major in Management (MSM) program is
a 36-hour graduate program designed to develop or enhance the
personal and technical management skills necessary for more
effective functioning within the administrative arena in private
business and public agencies. The curriculum is organized around
the theme of "leadership," and courses offered expand on five
essential elements:
- Be a person of honesty and integrity.
- Understand the workings of the world both within and outside
the organization.
- Envision the direction toward which the organization or group
should move.
- Decide between any number of options on how to solve problems
and achieve goals.
- Mobilize individuals to work together toward a common end.
The degree program is designed to enable students to apply
increasingly sophisticated theoretical concepts to the solution
of practical management problems.
The MSM is a career-oriented degree program with emphasis on
knowledge and skill in working with and leading people in an
organizational environment. The program revolves around the ideal
of servant leadership present in both quality management
literature and the Christian tradition. Strategy,
decision-making, quality and the dynamics of change in
organizations are all explored in the curriculum.
